- There is a strong probability that the family has its roots in
Newcastle-on-Tyne in England and that our branch of the family
descends from John Trumbull and wife Ellen. John came to America, in
1637, was at Roxbury in 1639, and at Rowley, Massachusetts, in 1640.
Wife Ann died in 1648/49. Ann Hopkinson, widow of Mighill Hopkinson,
was John's second wife and after his death in 1657, she married
Richard Swan but died shortly thereafter (1658).

Dear Alice:
I forgot one other thing. The History of Stonington, CT stated:
"His wife d. in England before he came to this country.....He m.
for his
second wife Mrs. Ann Trumbull. She m. for her first husband Michael
Hopkinson, who buried feb 28,1648; and for her second husband, John
Trumbull in june 1650, and for her third husband, Richard Swan March 1
1658."
This affirms your research.

Ann (Gott nee) Hopkinson Trumble Swan - widow and 2nd wife of
Richard
Swan of Rowley Ma. wrote a will 4 Jul 1678 and proved 24 Sep 1678.
This is after Richard Swan's will was proved 23 May 1678.
Richard mentioned his children. Ann mention her children by
Michael
Hopkinson and John Trumble. She did not mention the Swan
stepchildren.
